This course is intended for anyone new to the Open edX project, or anyone interested in learning more about the project's background and how to contribute. It covers many basics of the project, including what it is, the history, and the community.
In the course we provide an introduction to contributing to the project. We're always eager to have more people in various roles - coders, project managers, translators, product managers and more!

Sarina has been working on the Open edX project since 2012. She is the administrator of the Core Contributor program and the Engineering Manager of the Axim Engineering Team. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, you can usually find her grilling, watching Deep Space 9, setting up elaborate Christmas light displays, or playing with her cats: Rupert, Arthur, and Ashley.
Maria has been working on the Open edX project as a software engineer since 2020. Since her first contribution to the Open edX project, she has made it her mission to stay close to the open-source community since she knows firsthand its impact on the educational systems in places like her native Venezuela.
In 2022 she joined the Core Contributor program as a coding CC. Right now, she's helping the project increase its quality and impact across communities. Maria works for eduNEXT, a Colombian-based Open edX provider.
Jorge has worked as part of the eduNEXT team for 5 years, as a project manager, scrum master, and engineering manager. He is based in Colombia and recently got a new, very cute, kitten.
Not at all! The project needs you! Whatever your skill set - for example: UX designer, marketing specialist, project manager, writer (technical documentation, blog posts, etc), and many more - there is a place for you within the Open edX project.
